Carnaval Barcelona 2026

Character animation for the official Barcelona Carnival 2026 campaign, created by Eva Vesikansa Studio for the Barcelona City Council.

Based on Eva Vesikansa’s original illustrations, my role was to bring the campaign’s characters to life through a series of animated pieces designed for digital platforms and social media. The main challenge was to translate the richness and handcrafted quality of the artwork into motion while preserving its playful energy and the unique personality of each character.

The animations reinforce the festive, participatory and irreverent spirit of Carnival, adding a dynamic layer to the visual identity of the campaign and expanding its presence into the audiovisual realm. Through movement, characters such as El Rodanxó, La Rodanxona, the Carnival Queen, King Carnestoltes and La Sardina take on a new dimension, creating a more engaging and expressive connection with the audience.

The project combined 2D animation, motion design and character performance to create short, energetic pieces adaptable to a variety of communication formats, while maintaining full consistency with the visual universe developed by the studio.
